Less Low End Point and Shoots
There will definitely be less low level point and shoots released this year due to the surge in the camera/phone market. Releasing $100 cameras is no longer economically productive for camera companies as most people have cameras just as good on their phone. Most camera manufacturers are focusing more on their higher end models these days. This means there will be fewer cameras, but hopefully better ones. In addition, many companies are saving their most significant new releases for Photokina, one of the biggest photography trade shows that happens later in 2014.
Large Focus on Connectivity
Again, to try and get past the blow on the camera industry from smartphone cameras, integrating WI-FI and other photo sharing technologies are a must. When people can upload to social media sites directly from their phone, why would they go to the trouble of uploading the pictures from their camera onto the computer?
I hope you enjoy seeing all the new camera models this week and be sure to check back after CES for a recap of all the new cameras!
